The PA's #1 mission is to help parents connect with the wonderful community at Park!  Join us to do some great work together building community, offering student enrichment activities and grants, and supporting and showing appreciation for Park faculty and staff.  

We welcome each and every one of you to get involved in the PA!  Parent involvement is a unique characteristic of the Park School and fundamental to its mission.  With over 25 committees, the variety of volunteer opportunities makes it possible for parents with different schedules, interests and talents to participate in the life of the School. Whether a one-time or ongoing commitment, every contribution is needed and valued. 

PA meetings are open to all.  Please feel free to join any PA committee meeting (descriptions and contact info below) and attend PA board meetings (listed on the Park School calendar).

  • Class Rep Coordinators

    Class Rep Coordinators focus on one division and work with the individual class representatives to help facilitate the flow of information from the administration, Parents’ Association, teachers and community to the parents. They also serve as a resource for other responsibilities, such as planning parent social events and coordinating class gifts.

  • Communications Network

    This committee leads development and implementation of PA communications while partnering with school administrators, PA committees and class rep coordinators to ensure all messaging to parents is timely, thoughtful and helpful to our community. Co-chairs: Julia Clarkson and Rebecca Scott.
  • Community Service Events

    This committee works with faculty and the Director of Service Learning to plan hands-on service projects that support themes in the curriculum for students at all grade levels. The committee also coordinates several annual service events for the whole family and the School.

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

    This committee facilitates the coming together of Park parents to discover and discuss the opportunities and challenges of full diversity, equity, and inclusion at Park. The goal is to shape and sustain a vibrant community where all people are included and valued. Co-chairs: Vianka BelyeaEmily Callejas, Sarah Holden Chokshi, Merle Perkins
  • Faculty & Curriculum Grants

    This committee approves and facilitates all faculty and administrator grant requests to support innovative new curriculum efforts and programming, and works with the faculty and administration, as needed, to help execute grant requests. Chair: Samantha Kaplan
  • Faculty & Staff Appreciation

    This committee creates and implements opportunities to express appreciation to the faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work. The committee organizes monthly breakfasts, monthly birthday cakes, and the annual Appreciation Luncheon in the Spring.

  • Family Bingo Night

    This committee plans and runs this fall fundraising event, supported by the Springfest Auction, for the parents and students at Park.Bingo Night is October 12, 2018. 
  • Family Skating Party

    This committee plans and runs this winter fundraising event, supported by the Springfest Auction, for Park parents and students. The Family Skating Party is January 11, 2019.  Co-chairs: Meredith Berger, Grace Huang and Elizabeth Reed-Nguyen.
  • Green Committee

    This committee consists of a group of concerned and committed parents who are eager to help raise the level of Park’s environmental mindfulness and to support and encourage any and all “green” activities. Co-chairs: Tiffany Hogan and Leigh Kempinski
  • Hospitality Committee

    This committee hosts and arranges refreshments for special school events (Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day, Yule Festival, and May Day.) Co-chairs: Celina Barrios-Millner, Alkia Powell and Maryum  Reed.
  • Library Volunteers

    This committee works with the librarians to facilitate the daily operations of the library. Tasks include: shelving, checking in/out books, and special projects. Committee opportunities include connecting with other Park parents and students, getting to know a great collection of books, and be in the “heart’ of the school. Flexible time commitment of four hours a month, typically two hours every week. Co-chairs: Amanda Goodman and Beth Kramer
  • Model UN

    This PA chair partners with Park’s Model UN Faculty Advisors to coordinate all Model UN activities (offered for Grades VI-VIII) for the School. Key roles include scheduling practices and conferences, chaperoning Model UN conferences and communicating with parents whose children participate.  Chair: Julia Clarkson
  • New Parent Dinners

    This committee plans and manages dinners in the fall to welcome new parents to the School and to introduce them to the Park community. Co-chairs: Janet Cha, Tiffany Hogan, Grace HuangGlynn Lloyd and Sang Park.
  • PA Advisors

    PA Advisors have chaired at least one PA Committee and bring a multitude of experiences and perspectives to the PA Board. Members: Janet Cha, Andrea ChiangSusanne Chiang, Eliza Hoover, Patricia Rea, Abeera Sheikh and Diana Vogel.
  • Parent Roundtable & All-School Evening Committee

    This committee plans a series of speakers and discussion groups for parents focused on topics of interest to the parent body. Co-chairs: Carol Batchelder and Erik Witkowski.
  • Park Apparel

    This committee facilitates the sale of Park School merchandise at school events and other occasions.Co-chairs: Andrea Chiang, Aaron Christian, Jen EielsonAdrienne Flight and Astrid Glass
  • Park Parent Contributing Writers

    This committee works in partnership with the PA Co-Editor, the Director of Communications, the Head of School, and PA leadership to produce four electronic issues of the Park Parent newsletters. Writing one article, or many articles of the year, is a great opportunity to work from home, learn about the school and share information with our parent body.  Each article takes approximately 1 hour of legwork (interviews/coordination) and 2-3 hours of writing time.  Co-Editor/Chair: Carol Batchelder  
     
  • Pizza Parties

    This committee plans and runs the late spring lunch fundraising event that is a part of the Springfest Auction for K to Grade V students in the classroom. Co-chairs: Shoshana Farb and Cindy Talbot
  • Springfest

    Springfest is the Park School community’s annual day of play!  Fun for the whole family, activities include carnival rides, carnival games, a petting zoo, face painting, food trucks and much more. It is also the single fundraiser for the PA, with ticket sales, the highly-anticipated raffle and silent auction raising money for community building, student enrichment and grants, and faculty and staff appreciation. Springfest relies on hundreds of parent volunteers. Whether taking on a larger planning role during the year as a subcommittee chair, or volunteering for a shift day-of, all families are asked to help make the day a success. Springfest will be held May 19, 2019 from 12 pm – 4 pm. Co-chairs: Jennifer HewittJenn Krebs and Debby Robbins and Angela Smith.
  • Springfest Auction

    This committee plans and hosts a silent, on-line auction in the weeks preceding Springfest and during the Springfest event. Revenues from Springfest (including the Auction and Raffle) fund all PA activities each fiscal year, which include community buildilng, student enrichment and grants, and faculty & staff appreciation. Co-chairs: Janet Cha, Doreen Ho, Rebecca Forkner, Eliza Hoover, and Hilary Sargent
  • Springfest Raffle

    This committee plans and hosts a Raffle in the weeks preceding Springfest with many items geared for children. Revenues from Springfest (including the Raffle and Auction) fund all PA activities for each fiscal year. Co-chairs: Fiona Benenson, Sonya Good, Danya Dinwoodey, Elizabeth Dunn and Jessica Scherer
  • Steering & Strategy

    The Steering & Strategy Committee, chaired by the former PA President, sets out processes for the PA to encourage all parents to be part of the PA and its committees, as well as nominates PA leadership for the following year, presented as a slate that is voted upon by the entire community. Chair: Laura Barkan. Members: Lawson Albright, Sue Jeppson, Merle Perkins, and Alkia Powell.
  • Student Picture Day

    This committee coordinates parent volunteers who help the students (Pre-K – VIII) and assist the photographers on picture day. Volunteers also update the “picture wall”
    in the lobby with the new class pictures. Student Picture Day is September 27, 2018.  Co-chairs: Elizabeth DunnJackie Fantuzzi and Maria Fernandes
  • Volunteer Outreach Network

    This committee supports and manages the various volunteer needs of different PA committees throughout the year. This committee organizes the Volunteer Fair (September 21, 2018 in the front Lobby at 8:00 am) where parents can meet with different committee chairs and learn more about opportunities within the PA.
